During an attack by a "gang of picnickers" in Nagaon's Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary region, two forest guards were injured. Jahirul Islam and Pappu Patar, two injured forest guards, were recognised.

A few teens who had gone to the sanctuary's picnic area attacked both of them. The picnickers were fighting among themselves after getting drunk, according to Pappu, who was recounting the event. "We tried to stop them from turning it into a law and order situation," he said, adding that "a lot of people were getting involved in the fight."

"However, they then turned on us. Several individuals attacked us for just doing out our duties," he continued. Both injured guards are now being treated at a medical facility, and a case has been filed. The police have started an enquiry to find those responsible for the incident.
