Assam-Mizoram border row: MNF Legislature Party condemns attack on innocent Mizos

At least three people from Mizoram and few others from Assam were injured in a clash between residents of both the neighbouring states at Zophai area (Kachurtal area) in Kolasib district along the Mizoram-Assam border on Tuesday. Mizo National Front (MNF) Legislature Party on Wednesday strongly condemned the attack on Mizos.

Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga said the meeting of MNF Legislature Party on Wednesday condemned the attack on innocent Mizos by miscreants at Gharmura and termed it a ?cowardly act. Zoramthanga took to Twitter and wrote, ?The Mizo National Front?s Legislature Party meeting held today condemns the cowardly attack on innocent Mizos by miscreants at Gharmura, Hailakandi district, Assam. I denounce this vile act of violence against children, women and men."

The attack took place when two employees of Mizoram?s Power and Electric department and a member of Bairabi village council, who went to inspect power line, were thrashed by residents of Assam, Kolasib district deputy commissioner H. Lalthlangliana said. He said the three people were taking photos of the ongoing construction of a link road by Assam government into the disputed land when the locals attacked them. A total of 19 farm huts were burnt down by unidentified miscreants.
