Hyderabad: Recently, 26,000 cases of covid-19 were reported in the world AY.4.2 and 17 cases were reported in India. Karnataka, the neighboring state of Telangana, reported seven of the 17 cases reported in the country. Considering the prevalence of AY.4.2, which is said to be 12.5 percent more prevalent than the delta version, is causing concern among people and is worrying about its further spread in the coming days.

It is learned that Telangana had registered two cases of AY.4.2 in June this year, the results of which the government kept secret and kept a distance from making the details public. The government's silence in alerting people was heavily criticized, amid warnings from experts and the suspected spread of the subvariant that devastated India during the second wave.

Despite two patients being cured, experts suggest that it was the responsibility of the government to disclose the details and make people aware of the emergence of AY.4.2 in the state. Though health department officials in the state claimed that AY.4.2 cases were not found in the state, the opposition is criticizing the government for not accepting it amid the rise in cases in neighboring states.
