New Delhi [India], Feb 8: The Supreme Court today is probably going to continue last hearing on the petitions challenging the Allahabad High Court decision of 2010 on the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi question. The Ayodhya Sadbhavna Samnvyay Maha Samiti has made a proposal to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on the dispute. In a letter Samiti president Amarnath Mishra has proposed that the dispute site be given to the Hindu parties, while a mosque can be built on the land “that will be made available by the Nirmohi Akhara”. Mishra is a close aide of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who has been meeting party to the dispute in the last few months.

The Supreme Court has continued hearing in the politically-touchy Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title question case. The bench had on December 5, 2017 directed the posting of the issue on February 8 after senior legal counselors Kapil Sibal, Rajeev Dhavan and Dushyant Dave, showing up for a portion of the candidates, pressed for postponing of the hearing postponed refering to its repercussions for the nation. The court rejected their submission. The special bench of the apex court is seized of a total 14 appeals filed against the High Court judgment delivered in four civil suits.

At least three earlier cases in the Ayodhya matter have been decided by a larger Bench of the Supreme Court when the suits for title were pending in the High Court. This issue was raised on December 5 last year and recorded in the order that was passed, but was kept open for consideration at a later stage.
