Rampur: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and MP from Rampur seat Azam Khan is now embroiled in another multi-crore land scam after 26 new land grabbing cases. The Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department has issued a notice to Azam Khan for grabbing government land for luxury resort Hamsafar in Rampur. The district administration has alleged irregularities in the possession of a large piece of government land. The guest house has been built on this land.

The SP leader has now been declared as a land mafia after a continuous case was registered against former UP minister Azam Khan for grabbing arable land of government and poor farmers. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also investigating allegations of money laundering related to receiving donations from abroad to the private university account of Azam Khan. The ED has sought a list of cases filed against Azam Khan from Rampur police.

Meanwhile, the state police have given a three-day ultimatum to Azam Khan's staff to inform him of all land deals related to Muhammad Ali Johar University. Superintendent of Police (Rampur) Ajay Pal Sharma told media that the police has sought details of revenue records, payment receipts, and land contracts with the parties from which the land has been acquired. The land is reported to be worth several hundred crore rupees.
