Dehradun: Uttarakhand Police have arrested Babli Devi, the culprit of the liquor scandal after becoming the village head of Shivnagar gram panchayat of Haridwar. Police are preparing to produce Babli Devi in court. While one criminal of the liquor scandal is still absconding. Police are searching for him at possible places. The SIT, headed by IPS Rekha Yadav, is investigating the liquor scandal. On September 11, SSP Dr Yogendra Singh Rawat exposed the liquor scandal at Pathri police station.  

Bijendra, his wife Babli and his brother Naresh have been made criminals in the case. Police have already arrested the main culprit Bijendra. Since then, both the criminals Babli and Naresh were absconding. On Wednesday, criminal Babli Devi was elected village head. On Thursday, as soon as Babli reached the village Phoolgarh. The police arrested him. Station House Officer Pawan Dimri said that Babli Devi, the absconding criminal of the liquor scandal, has been arrested. She is being produced in court. Raids are being conducted at possible places in search of the absconding Naresh. She will be caught soon.

In the counting, Babli won over her rival candidate Swati. Babli got 855 votes and rival Swati got 848 votes but Swati appealed for re-counting. On this, the administration conducted a recount. In the re-counting, Babli got 859 votes, while rival Swati got 858 votes. Babli won by defeating Swati by one vote.
