Recently, the trailer for the eagerly anticipated movie Babylon, starring Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Tobey Maguire, and others, was made public. In Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Robbie and Pitt investigated the 1980s Hollywood scene. This time, they venture even further back to offer us a taste of the 1920s entertainment scene.

Babylon depicts a period in Hollywood when the talkies were ready to supplant the silent film era. While Brad portrays a prominent movie star from the era, Robbie plays an aspiring actress in the movie. The movie evokes the atmosphere of Los Angeles in the 1920s when Hollywood was all about nonstop drinking and enjoying a lavish lifestyle. Besides Pitt and Robbie, the film also stars Diego Calva Tobey Maguire, Olivia Wilde and Samara Weaving.

Babylon is described as follows in the movie's official synopsis "A tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, it traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood." Pitt's character Jack Conrad is shown in the teaser discussing what it's like to be a Hollywood heartthrob, "When I first moved to LA, the signs on all the doors said, 'No actors or dogs allowed. I changed that."

Damien Chazelle, known for La La Land, is the director of Babylon. The movie is scheduled to debut on December 25 in the US before getting a larger release on January 6. It appears from the teaser that the movie will be an Oscar candidate.
