Dhaka: Radical Muslims in Bangladesh attacked the minority Hindu community for 5 consecutive days. In a fresh attack on Sunday (October 17, 2020), fundamentalists stormed a village in the Pirganj sub-district of Rangpur division of Bangladesh and set 20 Hindu houses on fire. In a tweet, the Bangladesh Hindu Ekta Parishad (BHUC) said, "Hindus are currently being attacked in Pirganj in Rangpur. Attacks on Hindus are continuing all over the country. If this continues, it will be difficult for Hindus to survive in Bangladesh.''

A video footage shared by BHUC shows a mob of Islamist fundamentalists setting a temple on fire, with firemen attempting to extinguish it. The arson also burnt idols inside the temple complex. It further said, "The situation in Rangpur is very grim at the moment. Hindu houses and temples have been burnt down. A Hindu village in Pirganj sub-district of Rangpur district has been set on fire by a Muslim mob.''

According to reports, Muslims in Jelepoli in Majipara had alleged that a Hindu man had posted "material insulting religion" on Facebook. District Superintendent Mohammad Kamruzzaman said, "The police were guarding the house of Hindus. He survived the house, but the attackers set fire to other houses not far from him. A violent mob of extremist Islamists attacked three villages of Pirganj sub-district, Majipara, Botola and Hathibandha villages.''
