Bathinda: An incident of firing took place at the military station in Bathinda of Pt. Jab on Wednesday morning. Four soldiers lost their lives in this incident of firing, which took place at 4.35 a.m. The Quick Reaction Team (QRT) got activated as soon as the news of the firing was received and cordoned off and sealed the entire area. The QRT team immediately started the search operation, which is still going on. It was told that the attacker was in civil dress. The 4 persons who died in this attack belong to 80 Medium Regiment. The incident involving the firing took place in the officers' mess.

However, the police have denied a terror attack. According to the Bathinda SSP, it is not a terror attack. The police are considering it an incident of mutual confrontation. At present, even the police have not been allowed inside the military station. According to sources, a few days ago, an INSAS assault rifle went missing from the unit guard's room. Therefore, it is being speculated that the rifle may have been used in this incident. However, it is not clear at the moment.

The firing incident took place at 4.35 a.m. Earlier information came to light that firing is going on and the Quiet Response Team has taken charge. But after some time, it was told that the firing had stopped. Efforts are being made to know where the attacker who carried out the incident is at present. According to sources, there could be two attackers. Since the families of soldiers also live in Bathinda Military Station. Hence, all the families have been asked to stay indoors. Additionally, schools within the military station have been closed. The ADG of Punjab Police said that this is not a terrorist incident.
