Indian Railways to run additional trains to meet summer rush

New Delhi: In a bid to manage the extra rush of passengers and for the convenience of rail travellers, this summer season, Indian Railways is running 4,010 trips of 217 special trains this year. . The special trains have been planned to connect key destinations across India on railway routes.

As of April 10, 2023, additional trains will be run on the Central Railway (CR), East Central Railway (ECR), Eastern Railway (ER), North Western Railway (NWR), Southern Railway (SR), South Central Railway (SCR), South Western Railway (SWR), and Western Railway, according to an official statement from the Ministry of Railways (WR).

Additional Railway Protection Force personnel have been deployed at major stations to ensure the security of passengers. To guarantee passenger security, more RPF members have been stationed at important stations. To guarantee that trains run smoothly, officers are stationed on Emergency Duty at important stations.

Special Staff force are deployed in various sections to attend to any disruption of train service on priority. Indian Railways also said that "May I Help You" booths are kept operational at major stations where Railway Protection Force  Personnel and TTEs are deputed for proper assistance and guidance of the passengers.

Also, steps have been taken to ensure that platform numbers are announced together with the arrival and departure of trains on a regular basis.

With the help of these procedures, the Security and Vigilance Department staff is keeping a close eye out for any abuses, such as cornering of seats, overcharging, and hawking activity, etc.

Zone Headquarters has issued instructions on how to keep waiting areas, retiring rooms, platforms in particular, and stations in general clean.
