Mumbai: Sourav Ganguly, known as the successful captain of the Indian team and named as Dada, is going to be the new president of BCCI. The state units of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, complying with the recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee, will start receiving annual grants after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held on October 23. From this day, the committee headed by former captain Sourav Ganguly will start operating the BCCI. Full members of the BCCI receive an annual grant of Rs 35 crore, which has not been received for the last three years due to not amending the law as per the recommendations of the Lodha Committee.

In this case, the compliant state units are likely to get more than Rs 100 crore. A BCCI official associated with the matter said that the AGM would pass annual accounts for several financial years and once that was done, the path would be cleared for grants to the compliant states. According to the order of the Supreme Court, however, only those states which have complied with it will get the grant.

This official said that this grant can be released in several stages and it is yet to be seen whether nine new full members like Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Chandigarh and Puducherry are formed. Grants from other states will be cut. Many members have not received grant for three years and now they do not have any money left. As such they are entitled to at least Rs 105 crore and interest thereon.
