Kolkata: Polling for the Bhowanipore Assembly by-election in West Bengal will be held tomorrow. CM Mamata Banerjee herself is the candidate for Trinamool Congress in the by-election to Bhowanipore seat in south Kolkata while BJP has given a ticket to Priyanka Tibrewal and Marxist Communist Party (CPI) has given a ticket to Srijeev Vishwas.

In view of the bypoll to the Bhowanipore assembly seat, tight security arrangements have been made in the area and 15 companies of central forces have been deployed. A senior police officer has informed in this regard on Wednesday. He said prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CRPC (Code of Criminal Criminal Procedure) have been imposed within a radius of 200 metres of polling stations where voting will be held on Thursday. Central Force personnel will be deployed at each of the 287 polling stations at 97 polling booths in Bhowanipore.

The security outside the booth will be the responsibility of Kolkata police officials. Kolkata Police in an order said, "Five or more people will not be allowed to gather within 200 metres of any polling station. A ban has been imposed on bringing stones, weapons, crackers or other explosive materials. The official said police posts have been set up at 38 places in Bhavanipur.''
