50 people, including Madhya Pradesh Congress MLA Arif Masood, have been detained for violating the guidelines applicable to the coronavirus by protesting at Iqbal Maidan last week against French President Emmanuel Macron, though all later has been released on bail.

Apart from Madhya Pradesh, Director General of Police Upendra Jain told the media on Monday that Congress MLA Masood and 49 others were detained on Sunday. However, all of them were later released on bail by the police, because the crime they committed was bailable. It has been learned that all of them have been released from the police station after filling the bail bond. Jain told the media that besides registering a case under section 188 (defiance of order declared by a public servant) against him, four other sections have been imposed, out of which two sections 269 and 270, section 15 (b) of the Disaster Management Act. And Section 3 of the Pandemic Act, which has been imposed by the district administration due to Coronavirus.

According to the information received, DP Singh, the officer-in-charge of Talaiya police station, had said that two thousand people, including MLA Masood and some Maulanas, had gathered at Iqbal ground in Bhopal on Thursday as part of the protest. A case was registered against them under section 188 (defiance of order declared by a public servant).
