Ahmedabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to form the government in Gujarat for the seventh consecutive time on December 12. Bhupendra Patel along with 20 other cabinet ministers will take oath as CM for the second consecutive time. The BJP won 156 of the 182 assembly seats in Gujarat.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday submitted his resignation to Governor Acharya Devvrat ahead of the formation of his new government after the BJP won a historic victory in the Gujarat Assembly elections. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, state BJP chief CR Patil, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi, Health and Family Welfare Minister Rishikesh Patel, along with Gujarat Chief Whip Pankaj Desai, reached Raj Bhavan around 12 noon on Friday to tender the resignation of the government. The Governor accepted the resignation of the government.

The BJP is scheduled to hold a meeting of its newly elected MLAs at the state BJP office 'Kamalam' in Gandhinagar at 10:30 am on Saturday to elect the leader of the legislative party, after which the leader will meet the Governor at around 2 pm and stake claim to form the government. The legislature party leader will become the next CM and Patel is believed to be sure to become the chief minister again.
