Patna: There is bad news for the passengers going to Bengal and Bihar by airplane just before Holi. There was a ruckus on the runway of Siliguri's Bagdogra airport after a crack was found on Tuesday morning. Soon after, the officers ordered suspension of flight operations, leading to a huge gathering of people going to different cities at the airport.

Let us tell you that on the occasion of Holi, people going to North East Bihar and Bengal travel through this airport. As soon as the news of the crack on the runway at Bagdogra airport was received, the field officers of the airport reached the spot and inspected it. Thereafter, they banned the takeoff and landing of aircraft. Earlier on Tuesday morning, only three planes landed at Bagdogra airport and two took off.

After the crack was noticed on the same runway, keeping in mind the safety of the passengers, the flight operation was immediately called off. Due to this there was a huge rush of passengers outside the airport as 11 flights were cancelled. Regarding this, Bagdogra airport director Shubhramani P said that it is not possible to speak anything before 4.30 pm. The repair work of the runway has started.
