New Delhi: The impact of covid was visible as assembly elections in four states and one Union Territory ended. After the election results, political parties in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu started celebrating fiercely. Now, a record number of new covid patients are coming from these two States. 17515 new cases were found in Bengal on Sunday while 20768 infections have been confirmed in Tamil Nadu as well. These two states have reported the highest number of cases within a day.

The number of people infected in West Bengal has gone up to 8,63,393. According to the Health Ministry bulletin, with more than 92 people dying from the infection, the death toll from the epidemic has gone up to 11,539. In the last 24 hours, 15,587 people have been free from infection. A total of 7,33,359 people have recovered so far in the State and the rate of infection free of people is 84. It is 94 per cent. According to him, there are currently 1,18,495 corona virus patients in West Bengal.

With the highest ever 20,768 new cases reported in a day in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, the total number of infected persons in the state has increased to 12,07,112 while the number of people who lost their lives due to epidemic has increased to 14,346 after the death of 153 more patients. According to the health department, 17,576 people were discharged from the hospital after recovering from the infection on Sunday. So far, 10,72,322 patients have become infection free in the State while the number of patients under treatment is 1,20,444 in the State. A total of 2,29,56,942 samples are being tested so far in the state. In Tamil Nadu, more than 10,000 cases were reported in a day on April 18 when a total of 10,723 patients were found infected.
