Kolkata: Political turmoil has not stopped in West Bengal even after the formation of the Mamata government for the third consecutive term. In the Narada sting operation case, CBI arrested four senior TMC leaders, including Mamata Cabinet ministers, while the Union Home Ministry has enhanced the security of Shishir Kumar Adhikari, father of Suvendu Adhikari and brother Dibyendu Adhikari.
The Ministry has announced Y+ category protection to Lok Sabha MP Shishir Kumar Adhikari and Divyendu Adhikari. CRPF jawans will be deployed to guard the two MPs. The ministry's decision comes after the ruling TMC accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of acting in retaliation and implicating its leaders in a false case in the Narada sting case. Not only that, Suvendu Adhikari, who defeated Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram, was also accused by the opposition of involvement in the case.
Shishir Adhikari and Suvendu Adhikari had joined the BJP before the Bengal Assembly elections with the TMC. According to reports, some security agencies and top officials had submitted a report to the Ministry following the post-election violence in Bengal.
