In Bijapur, two women Naxals were gunned down in an encounter with the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Sunday morning. Ig P Sundarraj of Bastar range has also reported the encounter. IG P Sundarraj said the encounter took place around 6 am in the forest near Jabeli village under the Naid police station area. At that time, a joint team of various security forces has gone on an anti-Naxal operation in the forest.

He said the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and CRPF personnel had launched an anti-Naxal operation on Saturday night towards Jabeli, Durdha and Mosla villages, 450 km from the state capital Raipur, based on a tip-off.

He said that on Sunday morning, while patrolling, the team had come face to face with a group of armed militants and after that, the encounter had also started. When the firing stopped, the bodies of two women Naxals, a 12 bore gun, a 9 mm pistol, codex wire, explosive material and other belongings of the Naxals were also seized from the spot. Security forces have been sent to the area and the search operation is still on.
