Patna: The joys of wedding preparations turned into mourning in Gaya district of Bihar when the girl's father passed away on the same day of marriage. The case is of Shivnagar village. After the death of his father, the daughter's wedding was held at the temple without any frills. The bride was bid farewell from the temple premises after the wedding. The father was cremated at the time of his daughter's departure. The father's body remained in the house till the wedding and farewell.

Shivnagar Panchayat Sarpanch Ravindra Singh said Mahendra Ram of the village worked in Coal India in Asansol. Daughter Rinky had come home on leave for Kumari's wedding. Barat was scheduled to arrive on Monday. Preparations for the wedding were underway. Meanwhile, Rinky's father Mahendra Ram suffered a stomach ache around 3 am on Monday. The villagers brought Mahendra Ram to The Divisional Hospital Tikari. Where doctors declared him brought dead.

The boy agreed to get married at paksha temple and groom Neeraj Kumar along with some of his close relatives reached the temple at Rameshwar Bagh. Neeraj and Rinky were married here. The girl was sent off to her in-laws from the temple premises after the wedding. The last rites of the deceased father Mahendra Ram were performed after the girl's farewell.
