Bihar Police arrested 7 people over gold robbery case in Darbhanga

Patna: In Darbhanga district of Bihar, the police have got a big success in the much-talked-about case of looting five crore gold from Alankar Jewelers on December 9. Police raided Bahadurpur in Samastipur and recovered about one and a half kg of gold and arrested seven people. The SIT team along with Samastipur and Darbhanga police were also involved in the raid.

Earlier, on 31 December, on the basis of the locations of Vikas Kumar Jha, the alleged accused in the gold robbery case, the police raided Belsanditara ward one in Vibhutipur police station area of Samastipur district and recovered some gold of the loot. The raid involved the police team of Sinhwada police station and local police station in Darbhanga district. In the case, the police, while arresting Harishankar Mishra alias Bablu Mishra and his wife Pooja Mishra of Belsanditara, wrote four chains of gold, a locket, 3 earrings, three earrings, several rings and cash from purse 3500 from Rajendhani Jewelers Station Road Teghra. The money was recovered.

According to police, the couple had agreed to buy jewellery from Vikas Kumar Jha of Shahpur Pagda. On 9 December 2020 near the Tower Chowk of Nagar police station area in Darbhanga district, armed criminals plundered five crores gold from Alankar Jewelers. During the robbery, the criminals also fired several rounds. After the robbery, the police of Darbhanga had released a list of ten criminals outside Darbhanga district, including two of the vicious Samastipur district. The wires of the incident are also connected to the Vaishali loot scandal.
