Guntur: There is a dispute over the place of a cross (Christian religious symbol) in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that the cross has been illegally erected at the place where Sita's footprints were found. BJP has also attacked CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy of Andhra Pradesh on this issue.
BJP's Andhra Pradesh unit president Somu Veeraraju and the party's national secretary Sunil Deodhar have tweeted, alleging that the state's YSRCP government is supporting such activities. Please tell that a large cross has been installed in Edlapadu in the Guntur district. This place is considered to be a sacred place for Hindus. According to the belief of Hindus, the footsteps of Sitamma (Sita Mata) were found at this place. The local police-administration says that it has no connection with the religion of Hindus. The place where the cross is half a kilometer away from the temple. Guntur Rural Police also tweeted in this regard.
The BJP had also made allegations earlier that there are efforts to convert religion on a large scale in Andhra Pradesh. The BJP had also targeted the Jaganmohan Reddy government on this issue. The BJP has now demanded that the structure which has been erected on the site of Sita's footprints, should be removed immediately.
