Mumbai: There seems to be a consensus between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena on the seat sharing and alliance in Maharashtra Assembly elections 2019. According to sources, Shiv Sena seems to have agreed to contest 120-125 seats out of 288 assembly seats in the state. However, it has not been announced officially yet.

So far, Shiv Sena was placing a condition of 50-50 formula before the BJP with regard to pre-election alliance. In order to put pressure on the BJP, it had started interviews of interested candidates in all 288 constituencies. Shiv Sena also started taking interviews of aspiring candidates of Shiv Sena in Nagpur seat of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis.

The BJP was also involved in selecting candidates for all 288 seats. However, after the tussle, there has been talk about the alliance between Shiv Sena and BJP. According to the new formula, the possibility of getting 120-125 seats in the quota of Shiv Sena is being expressed. BJP can field candidates in 155-165 seats. The formula for giving the remaining seats to smaller allies of the NDA may be finalized on Tuesday.
