Patna: Bihar witnessed a fierce war of words between Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and former CM Lalu Prasad Yadav and the BJP on Sunday on the occasion of Sampoorna Kranti Diwas. Several political parties including BJP, JDU and RJD had organised programmes on the occasion of Sampoorna Kranti Diwas in Patna. Lalu Yadav was expected to participate in the Sampoorna Kranti Diwas programme organised by the RJD, but he did not attend the event due to ill health.

Lalu Prasad Yadav sent a video message in which he paid tributes to Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan and recalled how he fought against the dictatorship 48 years ago. During the Emergency period, Lalu Yadav also joined this movement as a student leader at that time under the leadership of Jaiprakash Narayan. In his video message, Lalu Yadav said that the dictatorship he fought against 48 years ago is still being seen today and now he is again fighting against the present dictatorial system.

In a video message, he said, "Today the situation has become the same back in the country, dictatorship and cunning power wants to destroy the brotherhood and unity of our country. The way the BJP is working, the country is heading towards a civil war. I call upon the people to unite against price rise, unemployment and corruption in the country. We have to fight together, we will win."

BJP leader retaliated

Former Union Minister and BJP MP from Patna Sahib Ravi Shankar Prasad also reacted sharply to this statement of Lalu Yadav. Ravi Shankar Prasad, while targeting the Lalu family on the issue of corruption, said that 'JP had given the slogan at that time that eradicates corruption, make a new Bihar. Today, for those who are talking of complete revolution, what do they have to say about the slogan of JP? Many big actions are being taken and punishment is also being given in cases of corruption. Everyone has the right to respect JP, but for the people who are talking about JP, how much they follow his teachings, that is a big question.
