K'taka polls 2018: BJP lodges complaint against Jignesh Mevani for comments on PM

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 1 (NT): The Karnataka wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday lodged a complaint in opposition to Independent MLA Jignesh Mevani and Tamil actor Prakash Raj with the Chief Electoral Officer for 'having used derogatory and abusive language' against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Party's chief ministerial contender BS Yeddyurappa as ANI reported.

The BJP alleged Mevani of calling Prime Minister Modi 'a corporate salesman and a thief,’ mentioned in the complaint letter.

"Jignesh Mevani in his speech at an event on April 29 in Bengaluru called our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi a corporate salesman and a thief who has looted the country," the complaint letter further read.

In the letter further allegations on Mevani and Raj are of making harsh attempts towards make vulnerable Prime Minister Modi's and Yeddyurappa's image.

The complaint also hunted an action against senior politician AK Subbaiah who had said that Yeddyurappa along with his fiancée would escapee once polls results will announced.

In the letter the BJP urged the election supervisory body to further not allow any permission to either Mevani or Raj to hold any indoor or outdoor gathering in poll bound state Karnataka till the polls are over.

Karnataka will go to polls on May 12 to elect representatives to the 225-member state assembly. The results will be announced on May 15. (NT)
