New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Party is meeting today before reaching the final phase of the ongoing winter session of Parliament. Union Home Minister Amit Shah as well as Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal, Prahlad Singh Patel, Bhupendra Yadav and other leaders have arrived at the meeting. BJP chief JP Nadda is also present to attend the meeting.

The parliamentary party meeting has been held at Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi. Issuing a notice, the BJP had asked all its Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs to join it. At the same time, the BJP has issued a whip to all MPs in the Upper House to be present and directed them to extend their support to the bills introduced by the government in the House. In fact, the government is likely to introduce the Election Law (Amendment) Bill, 2021 in the Rajya Sabha today. The bill was earlier passed in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

The issue of the absence of MPs during the proceedings of Parliament may arise in this meeting. More than 20 starred questions were taken in the Lok Sabha on Monday, but 10 BJP MPs whose names were included in the question were not present to ask additional questions. PM Narendra Modi had earlier warned MPs to be present in the House.
