Black Fungus cases rising in Indore, shortage of endoscopy machines

Indore: After corona infection, black fungus is now wreaking havoc in Indore. The number of black fungus patients at MY Hospital has started increasing continuously and due to this endoscopy machines for surgery have started declining here. At present, 167 patients of the disease are admitted and ENT surgeons are removing fungus through endoscopy in patients who are getting fungal infections in nose and sinuses. At present, there are two endoscopy machines, but due to increase in the number of patients, these machines have come down. Tell all of you that the medical college management is currently trying to buy two machines.

It is said that the surgery process of the patients will be easier when they arrive. At present, a team of more than 20 doctors of ENT department is engaged in removing fungus from the nose and sinuses of the patients every day. Dr. Yamini Gupta, HOD, Department of Nasal-Ear-Throat Diseases, MGM Medical College, says, "Two machines will arrive today i.e. by Saturday. At present, seven to eight patients are being removed daily through telescopic method." On the other hand, Dr. Sanjay Dixit, Dean, MGM Medical College, says "At present, 167 patients are suffering from black fungus in MY Hospital. Out of these, eight patients who were found to be non-covids have been kept in another hospital. Eight non-covid patients suffering from black fungus have been instructed to undergo antibody tests to trace their covid history. Two new endoscopy machines are being procured to identify the patients at the earliest, which the district will get on Saturday.''

At the same time, he said, "Endoscopic surgery of 76 patients suffering from black fungus and other surgical operations of 48 patients have been carried out so far." Thakur, Superintendent, MYH said, "At present, 175 beds are available in the ward constructed in the hospital which can be increased to 200 as per requirement. Amphotericin B Injection is also available for patients suffering from black fungus.''
