JERUSALEM: US State Secretary Antony Blinken has stated that the US is "ironclad" in its support for Israel. The remark was made during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in Jerusalem on Sunday.

"Deal or no deal," Blinken said, "we will continue to work together and with other partners to counter Iran's destabilising behaviour in the region." Blinken's regional tour also includes reassuring US allies in the Middle East about the upcoming renewed nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

According to a statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's office, Bennett said Israel is "concerned" about the US decision to remove Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps from the US list of "foreign terrorist organisations," and that he hopes the US will listen to "concerned voices" from the region on the issue.

The two officials also talked about Israel's efforts to mediate the Russia-Ukraine issue, as well as the "warming in relations between Israel and the countries in the region, particularly the strengthening of the Abraham Accords." Later, in the Negev desert in southern Israel, the US Secretary of State will attend a historic meeting with Arab Foreign Ministers from Bahrain, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt.
