Following a statement from the Punjab government claiming that BMW had agreed to establish an auto part manufacturing unit in the state, BMW has now refuted the plans to open an extra manufacturing facility in Punjab. A decision to this effect was made, according to a government statement, when Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited the BMW headquarters in Germany.

Malvinder Singh Kang, the top spokesperson for the Aam Aadmi Party, claimed that during the CM's trip to Germany, he spoke with representatives of BMW's head office, who subsequently agreed to open a branch in Punjab. He continued by saying that every deal has a process and that it takes time.

According to the most recent statement made by the BMW Group in this regard, the automaker is steadfastly committed to its Indian operations, which include a manufacturing facility in Chennai, a parts warehouse in Pune, a training facility in Gurgaon NCR, and a well-established dealer network spread across the nation's major metropolises. However, the corporation doesn't have any intentions to open other factories in Punjab.

The business also emphasised that all of the BMW Group brands, including BMW, MINI, and Motorrad, have their sights set on the premium segment of the Indian car market. Mann had also invited BMW to work with the state government in the area of e-mobility while he was in Germany. He claimed that the auto industry behemoth places a lot of emphasis on e-mobility, with the goal of having fully electric vehicles account for 50% of its global sales by 2030. He continued by saying that the state's e-mobility industry is anticipated to enter a new era as a result of Punjab's EV Policy.

Separately, the business recently introduced the X4 "50 Jahre M Edition" in the Indian market, with the 30i model going for $72,90,000 (ex-showroom) and the 30d variant for $74,90,000. (ex-showroom).
