Guwahati: Two boats collided and sank in the Brahmaputra river, due to which many people are feared missing. According to the information, two boats carrying about a hundred passengers collided and sank in the Brahmaputra river in Jorhat, Assam. Officials said 42 people have been rescued, and about 70 are still missing.

There is no register or ticketing system to know the exact number indicating the negligence of the Inland Water Transport Department. The accident took place at around 4:15 pm when a departing boat was trying to accommodate an incoming boat. Due to some miscommunication between the drivers, the boats collided and the departing boat capsized.
