KOHIMA: A ceasefire agreement for a period of one year was signed on Wednesday by Piyush Goyal, Additional Secretary to the Government of India and NSCN representative Nikto Pilot Sumi. The Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) supervisor and CFSB member was Abel Zingru Thur.

As per the agreement, the ceasefire will be in force for a period of one year from 8 September to 7 September 2022. It will also be subject to the observance of ceasefire rules mutually agreed upon and signed by both the parties. It added that the ceasefire rules would be subject to mutual review and revision with the participation of both sides. A five-member team of NSCN(K) Nikki Group was part of the meeting.

The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) is a far-left Naga nationalist separatist group, operating mainly in northeastern India, with minor activities in north-west Myanmar (Burma) as of 2012. The main objective of the organization is to establish a sovereign Naga state. "Nagalim", which would  include all the areas inhabited by the Naga people in northeastern India and northwestern Myanmar. The slogan of NSCN is "Nagaland for Christ". This group is currently fighting to separate Nagaland from India.
