Jamtara: Sixteen persons have gone missing after a boat capsized in Jharkhand's Jamtara. According to reports, the accident took place between Barbedia in Dhanbad district and Veergaon-Shyampur Ghat in Jamtara district. The boat capsized near the bridge, after which the occupants drowned in the river.

NDRF team is carrying out rescue operations to trace the missing persons which are still going on. According to reports received, some persons on the boat had boarded their bikes. According to police, the number of drowning people may also rise. In the big statistics between Barbedia and Jamtara, people use boats to and from. The case of the boat sinking is around 4.30 pm.

According to information received from the report, around 5 pm on Thursday, when people were in the river on board the boat, it started raining with strong wind. Due to the strong wind, the boat capsized in the beach river. According to locals, most of the people on board the boat were returning home after working as labourers and after completing their work in Dhanbad, which led to the accident. However, due to the rescue operation, nobody has been recovered so far.
