Bangalore: On Thursday, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai advised everyone, including politicians, not to make statements that agitate people and to maintain peace while a three-judge full bench of the Karnataka High Court hears the petitions over the 'hijab' issue.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister will meet with Ministers of Education and Home Affairs, and also officials, to discuss steps to restore a pleasant and peaceful atmosphere and discipline in educational institutions.
"The subject of uniform dress codes in educational institutions has been sent to the High Court's three-judge bench, and the hearing will begin around 2:30 p.m. today. To avoid any disruption among students, schools and universities have been declared closed. It is everyone's responsibility to ensure that there is no outside incitement and that law and order is maintained," Bommai stated.
Speaking to reporters here, he stated that everyone should follow the court's decision because it is the one in charge of the case.
"I urge to everyone; whoever was required to make a statement or make views on the subject has already done so." Everyone should now come to a halt and await the court's decision. No one should make any statements that are disruptive to the peace and should exercise restraint," he stressed.
