Republic Day 2024 is very near, and airports across India are on high alert, implementing additional measures to ensure safety during the celebrations. Travelers flying on January 26 are advised to take note of the following guidelines.

Hand Baggage Restrictions:

Bangalore Aviation reports that stricter restrictions apply to items allowed in hand luggage. Prohibited items include talcum powder, powdered spices and masalas, lighters, and toys resembling weapons.
AAI Recommendations:

The Airport Authority of India (AAI) recommends passengers keep their travel documents in hand luggage, as identity checks may be conducted at any time.
Traveling light and packing essentials are encouraged for a hassle-free check-in. Passengers are advised to check airline guidelines for specific details.
Baggage Guidelines:

For hand baggage, AAI advises against carrying items like nail cutters, scissors, sharp objects, and liquids.
In the case of check-in baggage, passengers are urged to exclude power banks, lighters, and ensure no prohibited items are packed to avoid last-minute complications.
Flight Operations at IGIA, Delhi:

Flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi will be suspended daily from 10.20 am to 12.45 pm from January 19 to January 26 in preparation for Republic Day celebrations.
Flying Restrictions in Mumbai:

Mumbai Police have prohibited flying activities in the vicinity of central Mumbai's Shivaji Park on January 26, the venue for the ceremonial parade on Republic Day.
Airspace Restrictions in Delhi:

The Airports Authority of India has issued a NOTAM (notice to airmen) outlining airspace restrictions in Delhi from January 19 to January 29. During January 19-25, non-scheduled and chartered flights won't be permitted to land or take off from 10 am to 1.15 pm. From January 26 to 29, these restrictions will be in effect from 6 am to 9 pm.
As India celebrates its 75th Republic Day on January 26, commemorating the historic transition to an independent republic, travelers are advised to stay informed and adhere to the specified guidelines for a smooth travel experience.
