This case has come up from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The police arrested the accused young man who tried to kill his Facebook girlfriend by strangling her in Lanka area. According to the information, police sources say, "The arrested accused is 24-year-old Vicky Kumar Verma who is a resident of Habibpura locality of Chetganj area of Varanasi. He was arrested near Narayanpur crossroads in the same area." In this case, the police said, "He was trying to run somewhere but then we caught him. A knife allegedly used in the attempted murder has been recovered from him."

In this case, the police further said, "Vicky was annoyed by the frequent distance of his girlfriend and on the last Monday, he took her under a culvert in Lotubir area of Lanka police station. He then tried to kill the woman by strangling her with a knife, but some of the women who were cutting the grass around the victim made a noise and went there so that the accused escaped." The victim was told of an ordinary family, who has studied till graduation.

Both met via Facebook and it is being told that at one time the two were very close, but in the meantime, the girl went to a relative's place after which both got away which did not suit the accused.
