In its recent development at the Allahabad High Court, the ASI Survey of the Gyanvapi Mosque Premises has been put on hold until Thursday (August 3).

The court is set to announce its verdict on the challenge posed by the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee against the Varanasi District Judge's ASI Survey order from July 21 concerning the Gyanvapi Mosque.

Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker's bench issued this stay order after considering arguments presented by both parties involved.

It's worth mentioning that the Anjuman Mosque Committee approached the High Court yesterday to challenge the Varanasi Court's directive to the ASI for surveying the mosque premises (excluding the wuzukhana). This particular order was made based on an application filed by four Hindu women worshippers who are part of a lawsuit before the District Court, seeking year-round access to worship inside the Mosque premises.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had temporarily halted the ASI survey until July 26, 5 PM, granting the Masjid committee time to approach the High Court. Subsequently, the HC extended the stay until Thursday (July 27).

During the hearing before the High Court, the Anjuman Committee argued that the Archeological Survey Of India (ASI) was never involved in the lawsuit and was not even mentioned by the Varanasi Court. Despite this, the District Judge instructed the ASI to conduct the survey of the mosque premises.

Furthermore, the Anjuman Committee raised concerns that the scientific survey, as claimed by the Hindu women worshippers, could potentially lead to the destruction of the entire Mosque Premises.
