London: The controversial Islamic campaigner and India's fugitive Zakir Naik's TV channels Peace TV and Peace TV Urdu have been fined 2.27 crore rupees in England. Peace TV has been found guilty of inciting murder and spreading hatred in Britain through its broadcasts. Britain's media watchdog Ofcom has imposed this fine on Peace TV.

In a statement issued by Ofcom, it has been said that Ofcom has imposed a fine of £ 2 lakh on Peace TV Urdu and one lakh pounds on Peace TV, a penalty for breaking the nation's broadcasting rules. Zakir Naik's Peace TV Urdu and Peace TV International are satellite channels, religious programs related to Islamic faith are broadcast on these channels in Britain.

Ofcom said that the content of the program broadcast on Peace TV Urdu and Peace TV was quite objectionable and at one place it seemed that this material was inciting people to commit crime. Ofcom said, "We found in our investigation that the content of the program was seriously against UK broadcasting rules. It required a penalty."
