Kochi (Kerala) - The Border Security Force received the three Floating Border Out-Post (FBOPs) vessels from the Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) on Tuesday (BSF). The Shipyard has now delivered six of the nine FBOPs being built for the BSF, according to the CSL.

"The vessels that were flagged off on Republic Day from Kochi have arrived at the area of operations for their deployment to the Sundarbans near the Indo-Bangladesh boundary seas," according to a statement from the CSL.

In a function organized in Kolkata, CSL General Manager A Sivakumar signed the delivery and protocol documents with Kumal Mazumdar, the BSF's DIG.

The three 46-meter-long FBOPs are being built for the BSF's Water Wing. "These vessels were designed by CSL in-house and are classed by the Indian Register of Shipping. According to the press announcement, "each FBOP is constructed with stowage arrangements for four quick patrol boats, which can be launched and lifted using its own davit system."

The vessels would serve as a floating base for a flotilla of swift patrol boats, supplying them with fuel, fresh water, and rations. They will be stationed on India's eastern and western borders to protect Indian territory.
