Budget Pride: 400 Vande Bharat trains in 3 years

CHENNAI: When Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the manufacturing of 400 Vande Bharat trains (also known as Train 18) over the next three years, it was a source of immense pleasure for the team behind the trains, said  train creator, Sudhanshu Mani, retiring General Manager, Integral Coach Factory (ICF)

Sitharaman announced in her presentation of the Union Budget for 2022-23 that 400 new energy-efficient Vande Bharat trains will be introduced in three years.

Sudhanshu Mani also hoped that the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) would soon resume work on the sleeper version of Train 18, dubbed Train 19 when they began work on it but later abandoned by the Indian Railways, as well as the aluminium-bodied energy-efficient Train 20, which has been in limbo for three years.

"It is a source of tremendous satisfaction for me and the team who manufactured the first rakes 2018.
