35 passengers killed as a mini bus falls into gorge in J&K's Kishtwar

Srinagar: A major road accident took place in Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir. In the Keshavan area, a mini-bus loaded with passengers went uncontrolled and plunged into a deep gorge on Monday. At least 35 people have been reported killed in the tragic incident, while 15 are said to be injured. The death toll in the accident is steadily increasing. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The accident happened at about 8:40 a.m. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed grief over the incident in Kishtwar. The injured passengers have been admitted to a local hospital. where their treatment is going on. Locals also assisted the police in rescue operations at the site and evacuated several stranded passengers from the mini bus.

However, the identity of those killed in the accident is yet to be ascertained. Media reports said the mini bus number JK17-6787 was on its way from Keshavan to Kishtwar. The bus skidded off the road near Srigiri and plunged into a deep gorge. Locals reported that the bus was overloaded.
