CA Rauf arrested for plotting to establish 'Islamic rule' in India

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested ca Rauf, state secretary of banned Islamic outfit Popular Front of India (PFI), from Kerala on Friday (October 28) for his alleged involvement in unlawful activities and recruiting youths into terrorist groups. CA Rauf, a resident of Karimpalli-Palakkad, was the 13th accused arrested in the PFI Kerala case, a spokesperson of the anti-terror agency said.

According to the report, Rauf, the state secretary of the radical outfit PFI, was involved in unlawful activities as part of a conspiracy to impose Islamic rule in India. Along with this, he used to encourage the youth of the country to join terrorist groups for this campaign, under these charges, NIA arrested him from Kerala. Earlier this month, raids were conducted at the premises of PFI members in several states, including the national capital Delhi.

On October 3, the Delhi Police registered a case against the banned Islamist outfit PFI at Shaheen Bagh police station under sections of the UAPA. During this time, the Delhi Police also started taking action against his properties. The central government issued a notification on September 27, declaring PFI and its affiliates illegal and banning them for five years.
