New Delhi: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur,  said in a Cabinet briefing on Wednesday that the Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu Road new rail line has been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) to increase connectivity and mobility. This project is expected to cost Rs. 2798.16 crores and be finished in 2026–2027. 

The Ministry of Railways will build the new rail line, which will have a total length of 116.65 kilometres. During construction, the project will directly support around 40 lakh man-days of work.

The project would boost connection and transportation, contributing to the region's overall socioeconomic growth in keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a "New India."
Ambaji, one of the 51 Shaktipeeths in India, is a well-known and significant pilgrimage site that annually draws millions of visitors from Gujarat and other regions of the nation and overseas.

These millions of followers will be able to travel easily thanks to the development of this line. The visitors to Taranga Hill's Ajitnath Jain Temple (one of the 24 holy Jain Tirthankaras) will also gain a lot from this connectivity. This line would speed up the transportation of agricultural and regional goods and boost the mobility of residents of the area both inside Gujarat and Rajasthan as well as to other regions of the nation.

The project will also offer a different route for the current Ahmedabad-Abu Road railway line. The projected doubling's alignment will pass through the Gujarati districts of Banaskantha and Mahesana as well as the Rajasthani district of Sirohi. The building of a new rail line will draw capital and contribute to the region's overall socioeconomic development.
