 According to the rule, after the gestation of 20 weeks, permission for abortion is required from the High Court. In one such case, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued summons to the Center, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, questioning certain provisions of abortion and directed them to keep their side.

Justice Rajbir Sehrawat told that under the Act, if a pregnant woman's fetus has got any fatal disease or deformity, then the fetus of twenty weeks can be aborted with the permission of the Medical Board. The court said that in many such cases, the High Court has been allowing abortion of fetuses older than 20 weeks.

Some educated and affluent people get its benefits. They save the life of the mother by getting an abortion on time. But what about the common and poor people, who do not get any legal help. In such a situation, not only the life of the mother is threatened, but a crippled and helpless child is also born. At the same, the court said that there is a provision of abortion for 20 weeks, but what to do if the defect of the fetus in the womb is found after 20 weeks. In such a situation, many questions arise on this provision. The court said that before considering this provision, it would be good to get help from the Center including Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh in this case.
