Centre tells Supreme Court that Delhi still has additional oxygen

New Delhi: The apex court on Thursday heard the shortage of oxygen. The Central government has informed the court about the supply of oxygen in Delhi. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Central Government, said that 700 metric tonnes of oxygen have been supplied to Delhi in the past. Earlier also, 585 MT of oxygen was supplied to Delhi.

The Solicitor General told the court, "Yesterday, Delhi got 730.7 metric tonnes of oxygen. Delhi now has an additional supply. If we continue to give more supply to Delhi, other States may have problems.'' Meanwhile, the court asked whether Delhi hospitals have oxygen storage capacity. The court has also ordered for the first time that the Centre should keep the buffer stock of oxygen ready by May 3.

The court said the situation will not panic if the stock remains. Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health Sumita Dawara informed the court that 53 percent of the total tankers have been deployed for oxygen supply in Delhi, 6 containers have been deployed. The number will go up to 24 in the next few days.
