Lucknow: BSP President Mayawati, speaking at an election rally in Meerut, accused the SP of undermining the interests of Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities by allegedly opposing reservation. Mayawati targeted the SP, part of the India alliance, claiming they hindered the completion of government job reservations for Dalits and tribals. She warned voters against supporting the SP, asserting that they are working to eliminate reservation for SC-ST categories, citing the abolition of reservation in promotion during the SP's tenure in Uttar Pradesh.

Mayawati criticized the SP for opposing a bill she introduced in the Rajya Sabha to ensure effective reservation in promotion, alleging that SP MPs tore up the bill in Parliament. She emphasized that supporting the SP would be detrimental to the interests of oppressed Dalits. Additionally, Mayawati reiterated her promise to create a separate state by dividing Uttar Pradesh, specifically focusing on the western region. She reminded the audience of her government's proposal to divide the state into Purvanchal, Western Uttar Pradesh, and Bundelkhand, emphasizing that BSP would fulfill this promise if elected to power.

Furthermore, Mayawati urged voters to elect BSP candidate Devvrat Kumar Tyagi in the Meerut Lok Sabha seat election, scheduled for April 26 as part of the second phase. The BSP chief reiterated her commitment to addressing the concerns of SC-ST communities and emphasized the importance of supporting BSP candidates to safeguard their interests.
