Bihar: Central team inspects floods, state govt demanded crores of rupees

Patna: A 6-member team from the Centre has arrived from Bihar on Tuesday evening. The team had come to inspect the flood damage in different cities of Bihar. A two-day visiting team led by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs Rakesh Kumar Singh assessed the damage caused by the floods. The team conducted an aerial survey of Samastipur, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur. The team also inspected the site of Navgachia in Bhagalpur city. The central team also held a meeting with officials of the respective cities.

37.64 crore from the Centre in lieu of flood damage. Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Disaster Management, State Government, Suffix Amrit, while presenting the flood damage details to the Central team, said that the disaster is yet to end, so the number of losses may increase.

13 districts of the same state are affected by floods and more than 15 lakh population has been affected. The question of how much compensation will be received from the Centre as per the demand of the state government is being raised because last year Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had given 3328 in lieu of flood damage. 36.34 crores, but five months later, in February this year, Bihar got Rs.12.55 crores from the Centre.
