NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda said the government has taken on the challenge of tribal education in a mission mode.
Munda interacted electronically with children from seven Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in Jharkhand's several districts. "The government has taken up the job of educating the tribal population in mission mode, and we are aiming to catapult them to international levels," he stated during the meeting. To this end, the government has approved 452 new EMRSs to fill the gap in tribal children's education, with a large number of these schools set to open in remote areas and at the block level.
"These schools will provide quality education for the all-round development of tribal students," says the government. On Janjatiya Gaurav Divas last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lay the foundation stone for 50 EMRSs, 20 of which are in Jharkhand," Munda added.
More specifically, Munda stated that efforts have been made in recent years to improve the quality of teaching in these schools, as a consequence of which numerous toppers and winners have emerged from EMRSs in many sectors such as academics, sports, and cultural activities, among others. Students are also participating in social and nation-building activities, such as Poshan Abhiyaan and Swachata Mission, according to Munda.
