NEW DELHI: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday announced the Centre's four-year infrastructure asset monetization plan to raise Rs 6 trillion under the National Motenisation Pipeline.
The key points announced by the finance Minster are as under: TheNational Monetisation Pipeline comprises a four-year pipeline of the central government's brownfield infrastructure assets. The plan includes sale of road and railway assets, airports, power transmission lines and gas pipelines. The ownership of assets will remain with the government and there will be a mandatory hand back after a certain time. The government is not selling off anything Only under-utilised assets will be monetized.
Detailing the National Monetisation Pipeline plan, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman also said that NEP talks about brownfield assets where investment is already being made, where there are assets either languishing or not fully monetized or under-utilised.
NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said projects have been identified to monetize assets over the next 4 years.
