The lunar eclipse of 19th November is very special as such a lunar eclipse is going to take place after 580 years. This lunar eclipse will be the longest partial lunar eclipse in the last 580 years. The lunar eclipse will last for about 3.5 hours. The lunar eclipse in India will last from 12:48 pm to 04:17 pm. However, this partial lunar eclipse will be visible only in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in the country. Earlier, such a long partial lunar eclipse took place in 1440, while after 19th November, 2021, there will now be such a long lunar eclipse on 8th February, 2669. That means, after 648 years, such an eclipse will take place.  With the duration of the lunar eclipse longer, people will be able to experience this amazing astronomical phenomenon for a longer period of time.

The distance between the earth and the moon is greater, astronomers anticipate the duration of the lunar eclipse on November 19 will be longer. The length of a lunar eclipse is reduced when the distance between the earth and the moon is short.
