CHENNAI: The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) has said that during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Chennai on May 26, it will stage protest marches against him.

According to the VCK, the demonstration is against "central government policies that have produced economic hardship and social unrest among the people of the country." Left-wing parties will join the VCK in protesting against the Prime Minister.

Thol Thirumavalavan, a VCK leader and Member of Parliament, stated in a statement on Monday that the VCK would join the Left parties' nationwide demonstration against the Central government's "anti-people" policies. Thirumavalavan said that the Left parties, including the CPI-M, CPI, VCK, and CPI-ML, will organise protest marches and distribute pamphlets against the Central government's "anti-people" policies.

The VCK leader claimed that while the Union government increased fuel prices 18 times, it only cut them twice, and that robust opposition to the Modi government's policies was essential.
