The journey of the Olympiad torch to 75 cities of India is going to start from the Red Fort in Delhi today, just before the upcoming Chess Olympiad in India. Earlier yesterday, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi, World Chess Federation President Arkadi Dwarkovic handed over the torch in the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which he has handed over to India's five-time World Champion Viswanathan Anand.

Viswanathan Anand handed over the Olympiad torch to India's Law Minister Kiren Rijiju earlier this morning at Delhi's Red Fort, which was handed over to him by Grand Master Divyendu Barua. Divyendu has now left for Leh Ladakh with this torch. This torch is going to reach Mahabalipuram on July 27, passing through all the states and union territories of India.

For the first time in the 100 year history of Chess Olympiad, India is to complete this event. The competition is going to be organized in Mahabalipuram, Chennai from July 29, in which the participation of 190 countries has been ensured so far. The Olympiad torch is now going to start every two years from India, the birthplace of Kahal.
